MOZ

So we finally have some Moz demos, we really hope you'll enjoy it!

-Moz is a project in which I work with Mabe Fratti and Stephane Cuchet, we started pretty much at the beginnings of the present year and we are having a really good time just throwing out ideas and working on them.

The soundcloud account for Moz will be up shortly, but meanwhile, I just shared the tracks here.

About the picture: Stephane is having a blast in Belgium right now and he shared this one with us, said he borrowed a camera for a while haha.

About the recordings: For those curious, we only had available an interface with an XLR input, and a 1/4" TRS input, so we recorded Stephane's guitar with a mic (using the xlr) and then the output of my guitar amp was routed to a speaker which had a 1/4 and a rca input, so the 1/4 was reserved for my amp's output, and the rca for a kp3, which had connected to it Mabe's cello and monotribe. The output of the speaker was then connected to the other input of the interface.

CUBENX + AUDI'S E-SOUND

There was no embed code so I was unable to post this song with its corresponding soundcloud-mini-player, but please, do check it out!

I am utterly fascinated by the sound design work Audi has been doing in the last years. It's  not surprising that Audi's acoustics department is involved in the development of a new model, but what's so great is they had a spin to their "usual" job this time with the new Audi e-tron models, were they won't rely on the actual sound from the engine and later on attenuate or accentuate desired frequencies; they are actually designing the sound for the engine.

"In a series-production Audi, a combustion engine currently supplies the music. Conversely, the motor in an electric-powered e-tron is not an option, as it is too quiet and its high frequencies are not exactly melodious. Audi’s e-tron models will therefore feature a synthetic sound signature. Rudolf Halbmeir teamed up with his colleagues Axel Brombach and Dr. Lars Hinrichsen to create it."

MNCVE + SKETCHSYNTH + de/RASTRA

Greeaat track from MnCve where he employs those organic textures which I enjoy so much.

Drawing your own control surface.
Imagine the possibilities of a control surface that you draw to top up your necessities, SketchSytnth allows you to draw your control surface with a piece of paper and a marker and sends OSC (open sound control) messages to a synthesizer (it could be another software though, as long as it supports OSC). Billy Keyes created this as a final project for his Interactive Art and Computational Design course at Carnegie Mellon University, and it just amazed me to see how one can interact between digital and non-digital surfaces.

de/RASTRA
Kyle Evans came up with a really cool instrument called "de/Rastra".
Basically, the de/Rastra is and audio+video instrument which generates imagery and the acoustic equivalence of it in real time, but I won't write too much about it as I think there is a great load of information about it HERE.

CHANCE UPON

I went to Zona 1 last night, the place you see in the pictures is called NOA ( not sure if its written as N.O.A); cool night, I chanced upon MnCve, a really nice guy, cool friend and musician. This is one of his current projects.

MESSAGE. MOZ LIVE at UFM

This week(s) won't have much audio updates, I am just getting started with my blogs (spoonz blog, spoonz music, and another one on its way) so I am dedicating much of my time to it.

Last saturday MOZ had its very first live presentation. It was a great feeling, it gave some sense about were  this project is at the moment, and since it is practically just starting to lift off the ground, it felt good to know we had a good time on the stage, even though we got "kicked out" for running out of time-we had 30 mins to play, but we never actually evaluated how long was our set list!.
